Acclaimed Boston MC/Producer M-Dot connects with the EPMD/Def Squad legend Erick Sermon for "HoopHop," an upbeat funk/soul-sampled banger, the likes of which only the Green Eyed Bandit could provide. On the track, M-Dot chronicles an origin story of how a college basketball scholarship was the catalyst to him ironically furthering his growth as an emcee. Conway The Machine & Jae Skeese Release New 'Pain Provided Profit' Project

The first signee to Conway The Machine’s Drumwork Music Group imprint, Jae Skeese appeared on two songs on the deluxe version of Conway The Machine’s From King To A GOD, and the first single, “Blood Roses,” from La Maquina.  Skeese continued his ascent by not only appearing (“Drumwork” with fellow signee 7xvethegenius) on Conway’s Shady Records debut album God Don’t Make Mistakes but also by contributing to the album’s rollout, as Skeese murked two different freestyles alongside Conway on Bootleg Kev and LA Leakers.

NTHNL - "Cosmic Flute Rides Again" (Release date: March 10, 2023)

Brooklyn Musician and Producer NTHNL's album "Cosmic Flute Rides Again" seemingly comes right out of the ether with boundless enthusiasm. The new full-length release adventurously combines Smooth Jazz, Electropop and Lo-fi Beats into an uplifting fusion that is at once both 'joyous and absurd', as NTHNL himself describes it. The end result is something akin to a Zen musical experience or the suspension of disbelief. "Cosmic Flute Rides Again" makes a strong case for not knowing when engaged in the creative process of music or life, but to forge ahead simply to see what's there.

Jacob “NTHNL” Rudin is a classically trained composer and pianist turned multi-flutist, producer and sound-healing practitioner. NTHNL expands on the meaning of the new album and what inspired him to take on this bold project. 

"I’m not quite sure why I made this album. It’s for some reason felt important to me to make a flute-fronted pop album to celebrate this instrument and to give it a wildly new context in which to sing. The flute is the oldest instrument we have evidence of, dating back at least 40000 years to both humans proper and Neanderthals. This instrument is almost as universal as music itself across human culture and serves as the gateway between the spiritual and the corporeal. 

The Cosmic Flute music is joyous and absurd. You are supposed to come away feeling free, like you have permission, like the world is huge and expansive and full of beauty and possible meaning. 

In my music I always spend a little bit of time in the shadows, but I like to return always. I think it’s super important to explore the dark, while always reaffirming the light."

Earthly Frames - "Taped Over" (Release date: April 3, 2023)

Maryland Experimental Rock Band The Earthly Frames mix melody with melancholy to great success on the new album "Taped Over." The album captures the many layers of founder and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Walsh's original musical vision. Not only does Gabriel handle Vocals, Bass, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Harmonica, Harmonium, and Drums. He also enlisted the help of a bevy of collaborators, who contributed Fiddle (Neil FitzGibbon), Accordion (Daire Mulhearn), Uilleann Pipes (David Stone), Harmonica (Mike Ballard), Trombone (Nikola Ristevski), Tuba (Mike Damnjanovski), Violin (Maria Grigoryeva) and Cello (Lyudmila Kadyrbaeva).

As you'd expect, the resulting musical arrangements are lush and spellbinding as music greater than the sum of its parts is forged. Wired Magazine once praised The Earthly Frames, saying, "Walsh's sound is a thick, heavy, and brooding experience pierced with beautifully melodic moments," and the description is apt.

The Earthly Frames is known for chameleonic, full-stop stylistic shifts between albums. Their last album was a dark, experimental ambient affair themed on 'ecosystem degradation and the inevitable environmental collapse.' This untethered embrace of bold sounds and themes is what sets the project apart from artists who simply forge a signature and tinker with it. Walsh's work relishes in the profound and the challenging.

Trensettahs Sound System - "La Fiebre"

Reggae-based musical collective Trensettahs Sound System are wholly dedicated to the cause on explosive new releases "La Fiebre" and the appropriately titled "Revolution".  Trensettahs Sound System was founded as 'a collective of Afro-futurists working to create and promote reggae music to fans all around the world.' With their prolific output and resounding art, the group achieve a cohesive, spiritual whole greater than the sum of it's parts while collaborating with artists and philosophies across the globe.

While most artists simply plan singles or albums, Trensettahs Sound System have planned an annual festival in Ethiopia, a collaborative album featuring artists from Jamaica, Ethiopia, Columbia and the U.S.A., as well as a 5-part docuseries that follows the collective to Columbia, Jamaica and the U.S.A. Thematically, Trensettahs Sound System resonates with social resistance and a reclamation of personal power. Knowing how critical it is to have strong limbs, this collective recruit the best of the best when it comes to collaborators. Their raucous track "La Fiebre" features celebrated vocalist Sizzla Kalonji and musical visionaries Zalama Crew, while "Revolution" features Zalama Crew.

Trensettahs Sound System is a collective of musicians and DJ’s orchestrated by DJ Fyahman. Trensettahs Sound System has created a 3 part movement all titled the Black Sounds of Freedom; 1 – An annual festival in Ethiopia dubbed as the pilgrimage. 2 An album featuring artists in Jamaica, Ethiopia, Colombia, and the USA. 3 A 5 part docuseries that follows us to Colombia Jamaica and Ethiopia. This movement combines music with social resistance. We travel the black Diaspora and lead people to explore Africa. Trensettahs made the music for all of the collaborative features on the Black Sounds of Freedom.

Zalama Crew is music group in Cali Colombia. They are Latin Afrobeat. Their music combines Hip Hop Reggae Reggaeton and local Colombian music to form a unique South American Afrobeat sound for the world stage. Zalama Crew has been touring and producing music for over 10 years. They tour as a band and DJ sound system. Zalama Crew is featured on 2 songs on Black Sounds of Freedom. Trensettahs has made an album with Zalama that will be released by the end of the year. The album is titled Cali Music Cartel. One of the episodes of the Black Sounds of Freedom docuseries follows Zalama Crew travelling to between Jamaica and Colombia creating music and concerts and show the African roots of their home that we hear in their music.

Sizzla Kalonji is the most impactful singer in the Rastafarian movement. Sizzla is an international reggae star from Kingston Jamaica. He is one of the most commercially and critically successful contemporary reggae artists and is noted for his high number of releases.[1] As of 2022 he has released over 60 solo albums as well as 1000’s of singles and features. Sizzla is featured on 4 songs on the Black sounds of Freedom. There is a full album of Sizzla that trensettahs has produced titled, Repatriation Movement. Sizzla’s compound, Judgment Yard, is the focus of one of the episodes in the docuseries, Black Sounds of Freedom.

It is important to note, as we do consistently in the documentary, the reggae that we pursue is reggae that is the soundtrack to the Rastafarian movement. 

Blueburst - "Vanish"

Blueburst founder Craig Douglas Miller's story is one of survival and resilience in the face of clinical depression and seemingly overwhelming odds. His powerful new debut album "Vanish" comes after a 20 year musical hibernation. But after connecting with legendary guitarist Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, Noctorum, All About Eve), Miller finally found the thing he’d been sorely missing: a trusted mentor and collaborator. Marty Willson-Piper also contributes guitars and co-produces the album.

"Vanish" is filled with heavy alternative rock guitars and a simultaneous emotional angst coupled with a newfound lust for life. As such, this is an inspired release harkening back to the days of innovative Indie, Grunge and Alternative from the 90's underground.

And with Willson-Piper sprinkling his inimitable brand of creative, guitar work over top of Miller’s songs, the result is dynamic intelligent music that alternately crunches, chimes, jangles and pounds.

Gem FM - "Con Fusion" (scheduled for release on March 23, 2023)

Musical innovator Gem FM has announced the release of his 5th album a grand Retro hybrid Electronica-meets-Rock affair entitled "Con Fusion", scheduled for release on March 23, 2023. The album features 10 new original tracks that range from ethereal trance to pulsating beats. The new collection further expands project founder James Freeman's esoteric, yes playful and rather joyous musical vision. The restless creative touches on Trance, Rock, Electronic Rock, Progressive Rock, Pop and Dance music.

Gem FM has been described as a musical chameleon and the music as intelligent, sophisticated and engaging. The music of Gem FM reflects influences from different genres resulting in a blend that is often distinctive and unique.

4banger, a cut from the Sonic Boom album, was featured on the Billboard Hot 80 playlist, as well as several others, and continues to receive steady play.

Artwork for the album was designed and created by Richard Capwell, a graphic artist, author, and dog lover who resides out in the high desert of Southern California. 

Richard created the album cover and individual images for each track on the album. Each track image is part of a puzzle piece that combines with the others to form a complete image. Richard has been working a lot lately with the Heavy Metal Bunnies.
 
About new track "Glide On", Freeman says it's “A tune that seemed to write itself. To me it represents the understanding that we are universal beings that temporarily inhabit biological entities like the ones here on Earth. At first, we look up then we learn to look down. Then we glide on by.”

On "Bake the Cake" he adds “The thought here is to figure out what it is that you’re really supposed to be doing and get the job done. Do your own thing and polish it until people notice. And you can dance.”

Modern Monsters - "Malice" (Pre-Save)

Bay Area Hard Rock Band Modern Monsters deliver serious emotional intensity and sonic grit on their brazen new EP "Malice", due March 24 on streaming platforms. The quintet dig deep into their roots with equal parts anthemic melodies and lyrical mischief, drawing on influences like Faith No More, Alice in Chains and AFI to create their punchy signature sound. This new collection also features a raucous, militant, punked-up cover of Jefferson Airplane's psychedelic opus "White Rabbit" that Modern Monsters proceed to make their own. It's the perfect song choice for a band with this much Earth to scorch. Simultaneously animated and dead serious, Modern Monsters are putting their stamp on modern rock with "Malice".

Modern Monsters are still pissed off. "Malice" represents continued frustration over current issues. This EP is an expression of disdain towards societal issues, unchecked power, two-part justice systems, distractions from introspection and perilous love. The sophomore release leads the listener to develop their own personal connection to Maleficent viewpoints. They don't aim to impress, they aim to disrupt....and have a damn good time doing it.

Cosmopolis - "Parasite"

Forward-thinking Post-Punk Art Rock collective Cosmopolis cook a bitches brew of unfiltered, scathing lyricism, gutsy social commentary, and swaths of Gothic Rock, Post-Rock, Prog, Electronica and Lofi sounds on new single "Parasite". Cosmopolis don't just inhabit a uniquely dark and enigmatic space along the musical spectrum; the revel in it. With influences ranging from Swans, Nick Cave, Joy Division and Massive Attack to the ever-influential Pink Floyd, this is music geared towards a visceral experience for the listener. Music Mayhem Magazine credited the band with 'major Radiohead and David Bowie vibes', describing their music as 'unapologetically dark music and belief that the power of music can influence emotions, behaviors, and morals.'

With members hailing from Belgium, Australia and England, this international trio unite to forge a wailing banshee of sonic havoc greater than the sum of it's parts. "Parasite" finds Cosmopolis further showcasing their ability to balance layers of dissonance and chaos with disarming honesty and, yes, beauty.

"On the surface this is a tale of obsession and a dysfunctional relationship, but in Cosmopolis' new song 'Parasite' it's never clear if the parasite is the external malevolent presence or the internal self-destructive urge. As frontman Gavin reveals "maybe it's both at the same time. And maybe living in Australia, I see the dark side of nature, so it seemed like a good way to approach obsession and self-destruction". The track builds to a searing climax which combines  elegiac beauty with violence and chaos. 

This song is part of that tradition of contrasting disturbing lyrics with beautiful instrumentation. It can be compared to Atmosphere by Joy Division, Femme Fatale by the Velvet Underground, The Bed by Lou Reed, maybe some things by Nick Cave."
