Stepping into Toronto rapper JUGGER’s mind is akin to a fun house. What lies behind every twist, turn, and door may be humor, horror, or a trap. At his core, the rap mastermind is a conductor, controlling his world with little effort.
After being discovered by powerhouse producer WondaGurl (Drake, Rihanna, Travis Scott) on the fateful night of Halloween in 2017, the two unlocked each other’s magic and unleashed it into the universe with the release of JUGGER’s debut single, “ARC’Y BOYZ.” While incarcerated, his 2019 debut project PSYCO served as a high-octane placeholder for the fury building inside him. JUGGER is a man of many faces, switching personas and perspectives at the drop of a hat like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. A lifelong sci-fi and horror enthusiast, the art of storytelling and world-building is a core part of the rapper’s creative process. Discontent with seeing the world solely through his eyes, he is always on the search for who (or what) to embody next: “I’m an astronaut searching for the next species. Maybe I might be the next species. I'm religion and I'm the pastor. Sometimes I'm the addict and sometimes I'm the one serving addicts.” As succinctly put by JUGGER himself, “I’ve been through it all and I’m going to document it all.”
For JUGGER, the duality extends to his musical approach, separating his autobiographical material from his fantastical concepts. “I’m a real good author,” he explains. “I could take my life and hold it up in front of a fun mirror and stretch it out to make some cool concepts and music.”
This manipulation of reality is what JUGGER finds himself getting lost in. Fascinated by the threads that hold society together, the emcee is invigorated by the challenge of seeing how much he can break before everything begins to crumble. “There are things that we all succumb to when it comes to bowing down to the ‘Masters,’” JUGGER explains of the central concept of PUPPET MASTER. “It could be within relationships, governments, jobs, or school. We all have rules that we follow that we actually don't have to, but we're tied down with morals, religious beliefs, etc. that we all hold above us. There's this glass ceiling that we could break. I call that cutting the strings of the master and just learning for yourself sometimes because not everything is as it seems. There's always something in the shadows that's controlling the perception of everyone’s outlook on life.”

What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path? - I’ve always had a passion for writing even long before I touch the microphone. Since I was a little girl I spent a lot of my time writing. From poems to sketching, writing has always been my truest passion which spilled over into making music for myself.
Tell us about your single. And what’s the story behind it? - The name of the single is “Alert”. In my opinion it’s a sexy, sultry vibe. The song is featuring Jeremih and produced by Mally Mall. The story behind this release is to truly express your inner sexiness from woman or mans perspective. I really feel like all genders can honestly find their Alta egos when they listen and feel the music. Me and Jeremiah seem to fit this narrative perfectly if you ask me.
What makes your music unique? How would you describe it? - What makes my music unique specifically is my voice! I can confidently deliver my emotions boldly and bluntly within feminine and parameters.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians? - Do you! Be you! No one can embody the best version of you like you can, and authenticity is really what people tend to rock with.
How was it working on this project with an artist like Jeremih? - Jeremih is one of the most talented voices I’ve heard! It has been a honor as a new artist to be on the same record with him.
Who are your biggest musical influences and any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future? - Biggest influence have been the ladies currently doing it. My number one is Nicki Minaj , however, my taste in music is very broad. I can go from Nicki Minaj to Britney Spears and back to Alina Baraz and Jhene Aiko all in 30 seconds. I love the soul and all of their voices, although all very unique.

Born in New York then moved to Los Angeles at the age of 2. I started delving into every corner of the culture of not only my city but also hip hop and Graffiti. We would skate and paint all day. Bump old music and new music and everything in between mobbing around the enormous county of Los Angeles. I gotta say life as a youngster in the early 2000s and 2010s in LA was pretty lit for what it’s worth. I’m that same breathe tho it came with negative things as well. I tried heroin for the first time when I was 12. I was kicking it with my older homies and one of them pulled out some tar. I asked if I could try it and that was that. I was used to palm trees a And sunshine* the harsh brutal winters were pretty depressing looking back. 3 months after I turned 18 I was sitting in Denver county jail for heroin possession.
This gnarly reality check would do little to nothing to curtail the downward spiral and some more bad decisions followed. Ended up getting out then Sent back once to a different facility. All the while making music and writing. I got out By 2019. I was pretty much over the whole self loathing junkie piece of shit reality so I decided to boss up. I took my self seriously. Took my militant mindset I had gained in the pen and applied it to life on the outs. Got two jobs, kept working out and ultimately got my shit together. Now we are here in the present fully bossed up. I’m 26. I own 5 acres in hartsel CO. I am about to get a house. And I have a beautiful wife and two dogs. I am beyond grateful for everything I have in my life. Now my focus is simply crafting my music and providing for my family. I still work a legit job but would hope to one day pay my bills through my art. Love is law. Life is good. And God is great. I love you all. Also shouts out to my momma.
