Emcee Nathan Nice, producer KDT Produced It and DJs Arbs & Breeze are Los Angeles-based "modern Golden-Era hip-hop group" COLAMP, presenting the animated music video for their new single "Buggin", featuring Blu, Katie Burke and Relic Fox. "Buggin" commemorates Mental Health Awareness Month, a subject close to KDT, whose mother took her own life in 1983, and who himself struggles with bipolar 1 disorder. Blu (most famous for his 2007 "Below The Heavens" album with producer Exile) shares his firsthand experience of going through a mental health episode, while Nathan Nice raps from the perspective of a concerned friend. "Buggin" also features Katie Burke as well as Relic Fox, KDT’s partner in the group ElephantBird, and is co-produced by KDT's Blue Fidelity collaborator, the North Carolina producer demancey. KDT produces the entirety of TAPE, Colamp's forthcoming album featuring Anacron, The Lvxes, Ill Se7en, DJ Gilatine, Drew Anthuny and Life Rexall. Ka-ren refugee pop artists Star2 and FG Fame release the new single and music video for "I Don't Like You". The Ka-ren are a minority ethnic group from Myanmar who have faced persecution and forced displacement. Star2 and Fame's music brings their stories of exile and perseverance to a wider audience. 

Since 2023, Star2 has been visiting the Thai refugee camp where he was born and working with other Ka-ren artists. "I Don't Like You" from Star2 and Fame highlights the gossip and drama that often surfaces in the face of young, unrequited love. The song is about a determined girl who tries to insist she is the girlfriend of Fame and then later, Star2. She brags to her friends and spreads rumors about her imaginary relationships, but they both let her down gently while setting the record straight. The music video, filmed on location in vibrant Bangkok, Thailand, matches captivating strings and infectious beats of the song with lush, colorful backdrops. The result is an infectious, action-packed saga highlighting the talents of these Ka-ren artists who have come together to make music despite the hardships they have faced.

Odelet Returns With Captivating New Album "Pisces Pie"

 

May 11, 2024 marks the official release of “Pisces Pie”, the newest album from Detroit born artist Odelet, who currently resides in California. Pre-release singles for this project began dropping in April, as well as an EP titled “Odelet’s Hufflepuff” April 20th.

Odelet is a savant singer and composer who began performing her music while attending Portland State University for Visual Art. Shortly later she recorded her first record, a 19-song avant-garde exercise in minimalism titled “Experiment” that featured her playing all the instrumentation and performing her own intricate harmony arrangements. In 2022 she co-founded a production company called “Everlasting Tape” in order to produce her first full band production, “The Angels Album”. This record introduced Odelet to the world of Soul Music and R&B, genres that had been close to her heart since her childhood in Detroit. She accompanied this release with an experimental form of music visual, which to date has been selected for screening in more than 50 film festivals internationally and won numerous awards.

Following the successful unveiling of “The Angels Album”, this spring marks the release of the second project from Odelet and “Everlasting Tape”. According to Odelet, “Pisces Pie” is an 11-song ode to classic Hip-Hop production, and to siren singers. "When it comes to my vocals, I just hear what I hear... something about it can feel like jazz... but in terms of production, this album was definitely inspired by my love of old school Hip-Hop."
